OUR TEAM

Meet the Team

  • Alisa Esposito

    EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR, WILDLIFE BIOLOGIST, FOUNDER

Allsa has worked for 30 years in conservation, wildlife biology, regenerative agriculture, community resilience and art. She has formed three non-profits and won leadership awards for ending mortality at an imperiled roost of migratory birds in NC. Her life shattered when husband Chris Lucash, a celebrated endangered red wolf biologist, was killed by the industrial disease ALS. In his absence, she formed a nonprofit to explore the question, “what does it mean to be a human being in these modern troubled times?,” and how we might leave a better world for our children? Sparkroot Wild is a continuation of her pursuit of an answer to that question, and determination to contribute to the re-making of a healthier, kinder world for remaining species and cultures, and children yet to be born.

  • Juan Miranda

NGABE COMMUNITY LIASON & PROGRAM COORDINATOR

Juan is a Ngabe Territory tour leader and teacher of the culture. Father of four, he is the proud son of parents who were original Reserva founders. He faithfully looks after family, and oversees many projects by interfacing between the Sparkroot team, pueblo residents and Ngabe communities, discussing and developing projects and possibilities. He grew up learning the ancient stories of his ancestors, and natural histories of animals, plants and the growing of gardens. Generous and hospitable he enjoys bird watching, teaching and cooking. He is a sustainable agriculturist and celebrated soccer player.

  • Noah Lucash

    VOLUNTEER COORDINATOR & MAINTENANCE

Noah was raised in North Carolina’s red wolf territory where he was immersed in wildlife conservation since childhood. He apprenticed in carpentry, mechanics and woodworking, and has an intuitive knack for problem solving. Noah had been managing volunteers and construction projects at the former family homestead, Sparkroot Farm, and continues this role at Sparkroot Wiid. When he’s not building a table, roofing a horse shelter, digging a pond with a shovel or maintaining his motorcycle, you’ll find him surfing, baking, reading or scrapping with one of his dogs.

  • Eden River Lucash

    CREATIVITY & DESIGN

Eden River grew up one of three siblings with parents deeply involved in wildlife conservation and endangered species management. She was raised on permaculture gardens, art, music and books. She is a skilled artist and designer, making digital art, drawing and painting. Recently she joined the mural team @thegoodofthive, contributing to two large-scale murals featuring both red wolves and threatened and endemic Costa Rican birds. An imaginative writer, avid reader and incredible painter, she enjoys horseback riding and currently works designing and painting murals at the Reserva schools.
